Description
Islamic Sword
This Islamic Sword is not a warfare sword. In the older era, such broad swords were given to the army generals as medals on winning a war or to the chieftains for their loyal services to the kingdom. This sword is a replica of the one given to Dost Mohamed khan (later became the Nawab of Bhopal, India) by the Indian Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. The length of the blade is 30 inches and the total length is 35 inches. The breadth of the Blade is 4 inches and is beautifully hand engraved in sections with a floral pattern and Aiyat’s from the holy Quran. The base of the hilt is made of iron and the Aiyat’s on the hilt are also hand engraved with 24kt pure gold wire damascened to give an enchanting look to the piece. The floral engraving and the inscriptions on the blade are also damascened with 24 kt pure gold and silver wire art known as Koftgari (check this link for details on Koftgari Art).
